Chuck Butler, M.Div., BCPC

Ministry and Adoption Coach

Chuck is a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor with a Masters in Divinity. He has been in ministry for 31 years and has served in churches ranging in size from 100-8,000 and within countless parachurch and camp ministries. During his time in ministry, Chuck has often found himself walking alongside individuals, families, and ministry teams through places of pain, stress, and trauma. This exposure has given him front-line experience--allowing him to walk many individuals and teams through the process of recognizing and responding to personal wounds and their impact. In addition to engaging his own healing journey through personal counseling, Chuck has received training in Trauma-Informed Storytelling models that utilize Biblical stories to foster healing. He has also received extensive training on the impact of pain, stress, and trauma through Gap Relief and has completed training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)—a model that equips him to engage pain through the lens of attachment.

Chuck offers support in a variety of impactful ways. In his role as ministry coach, he helps individuals relieve the pressure of self-expectations, fostering a healthier self-view. Through the use of visual aids, Chuck assists people in understanding and addressing areas where they feel stuck. He also plays a crucial role in distinguishing between healthy and unhealthy church systems, guiding individuals in recognizing the nature of their religious or spiritual communities. For those affected by unhealthy systems, Chuck provides valuable guidance on managing and moving through the impacts of these pressures, supporting them in navigating these challenges effectively.

In the realm of adoption support, Chuck’s approach to family dynamics is both practical and deeply supportive. By focusing on a “no template” approach, Chuck acknowledges that every family is unique and avoids imposing unrealistic ideals. Instead, he helps families navigate their own realities, providing them with tools and resources tailored to their specific needs. Offering potential resources as “life hacks” in the context of adoption is particularly valuable. These resources likely help families tackle the unique challenges that come with adoption, offering practical solutions and strategies for managing complex situations. Chuck provides functional homework that include actionable steps that move families toward resolving painful issues. This hands-on approach can help families make tangible progress in addressing their difficulties and strengthening their relationships.

Chuck is the church-planting pastor of the Collective Church NWA—a trauma-informed church with a mission to foster authentic community across Northwest Arkansas.
